Start with the three measurements
- Width: how wide the film is. The hand wrap options on this page are 18 inches wide.
- Gauge: a measure of film thickness. It is one selection factor, alongside the film's construction and your wrapping process.
- Length: the amount of film on each roll before stretching. A roll with fewer feet needs to be replaced sooner if usage per load stays the same.

Do not treat gauge as a guaranteed load-weight rating. Carton arrangement, protruding edges, film tension and the wrapping pattern all affect the result. If your current film works well, its specification is a useful starting point. If it fails, describe the failure before changing only the thickness.
Choose your pack size
- 1 roll: a small purchase for a limited requirement or an application trial.
- 4 rolls: the reference pack used to calculate the larger-pack savings.

Compare the quantity of film, not just the number of rolls
Four 1,500-foot rolls contain 6,000 feet before stretching. Four 1,000-foot rolls contain 4,000 feet. They are both four-roll packs, but they do not contain the same length of film.
For a purchasing comparison, divide the pack price by the number of rolls to get the price per roll. Then compare total footage and actual material used per acceptable wrapped load. This helps avoid a decision based on a lower pack price alone.
